Tony Blair video address for USAID's Frontiers in Development Conference
Friday, Jun 08, 2012 in Africa Governance InitiativeIn a video address to the USAID Frontiers in Development Conference today, AGI Patron Tony Blair said that we need new thinking and a new approach to keep up with the increasing rate of positive change in Africa.
He went on to argue that that the biggest opportunity in development today lies in a new generation of political leaders like President Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, also speaking at today’s conference, ready to take their countries’ destinies into their own hands. And that what these leaders need around them is capacity to get things done.
In front of audience of political leaders, development professionals and civil society Mr Blair added that development actors need to support Africa’s political leaders by placing governance at the heart of how we think about development.
