Tony Blair to appear on 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'
Wednesday, Sep 17, 2008 in Office of Tony Blair
Tony Blair will be a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Thursday 18th September. This appearance will be the former Prime Minister's first appearance on "The Daily Show" and the sixth appearance on the show by a former or current head of state.
A spokesman for Tony Blair said: "The Daily Show have been asking Tony Blair to appear for some time and Thursday seemed like a good time before he starts teaching his course on 'faith and globalisation' at Yale University the next day.
"The course will explore how faith traditions and globalisation may influence each other and why understanding this mutual process is important in the twenty-first century."
Political figures who have appeared on "The Daily Show" include former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Al Gore, Senators John McCain, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Speaker of the House Representative Nancy Pelosi and Senator John Edwards.
In addition, General Pervez Musharraf, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was Stewart's guest in September 2006, marking the first time a sitting head of state had appeared on the show. Other international figures to appear on the show include Bolivian President Evo Morales and Vicente Fox, the former President of Mexico.
The 18th September interview will be posted for viewing the following day at both www.thedailyshow.com and www.indecision2008.com.
