Office of the Quartet Representative secures extension of Tarkumiya crossing opening hours

Quartet Representative Tony Blair, working with our Quartet partners, has secured an extension of the Tarkumiya commercial goods crossing opening hours. The news comes after OQR consulted local Palestinian business people, who identified that extended opening hours would improve access for goods, giving greater flexibility and reducing congestion. The crossing will now be open from 0630 to 1900 every day, an extension of three working hours per day.
The decision came during ongoing discussions with the Government of Israel, the Office of the Quartet Representative, working with our Quartet partners. OQR views this as a positive first step and will continue to lobby for an extension of opening hours and throughput for all commercial crossings, the further containerisation of Palestinian exports as well as for greater transparency on issues such as crossing procedures and opening hours.
