Tony Blair meets with Israelis and Palestinians ahead of Quartet’s latest push for peace

Quartet Representative Tony Blair is meeting with Israeli and Palestinian leadership ahead of the next Quartet meeting to discuss how direct negotiations can be restarted.

The next meeting of the Quartet, made up of the UN, the United States, Russia and the European Union, is due to happen in Europe in mid-March.

Tony Blair met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday before holding meetings with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.

The Quartet Representative sat down with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss implementation of the package of measures announced earlier this month to improve facts on the ground for the Palestinians .

Tony Blair’s latest visit to the region follows his call for all sides to breathe new life into the peace process after protests across the region bring about change in Egypt and Tunisia.
