2012 is the Magic Number for Graham’s Great North 10k
Wednesday, Jul 18, 2012 in Sports Foundation
Now well into the second half of his 2012 miles in 2012 challenge to raise money for The Tony Blair Sports Foundation, Graham Smith’s next stop is the Bupa Great North 10k – Gateshead on Sunday 22 July.
And Graham could not have imagined a better way to take part in this local event than to run with 2012 as his race number! After receiving his number through the post, Graham said:
“Getting to run with 2012 as my race number, while I add to my 2012 miles in 2012 challenge, will just make taking part in the Bupa Great North 10k on Sunday even more special for me. I thoroughly enjoyed running in this race last year, and I can’t wait to line up at the start again this year. The course is great and as a local guy it is fantastic to run past so many iconic landmarks like the Millennium Bridge and The Sage. There will be a fantastic atmosphere in Gateshead Stadium where the race finishes – crossing the line will be brilliant!”
Taking part in the Great North 10k will help Graham to reach his target of 2012 miles by the end of this year. He is already over the halfway point in the challenge and completing the 10k race will help push him closer towards his goal.
Graham signed up to take part in his 2012 miles challenge on behalf of The Tony Blair Sports Foundation after he gained a Leadership in Running Fitness qualification with the support of the Foundation. The money he raises during his challenge will help The Tony Blair Sports Foundation to continue supporting more people like Graham to qualify as sports coaches, leaders and officials so that they can give more people across the North East the opportunity to take part in sport.
