Wednesday, Apr 13, 2011 in Sports FoundationAs the TBSF Tennis Challenge Cup competition reaches the half way mark we went along to see how the schools were getting on.
Today, 36 children from the St Bede’s cluster in Lanchester enjoyed a morning of fun Tennis.
This primary school competition, now in its fourth year, will see over 10,000 local children enjoying tennis coaching sessions with the best players representing their schools in the North East regional final in July.
The winners from this round were St Patricks School who will now go through to the District finals at the end of May.
Michael Hume, TBSF Tennis coach and Leisureworks competition organiser says:
“This competition is a great way of introducing tennis to these young children. Since November, we have seen a number of youngsters developing their skills in school and what is even better is that some of them have gone on to play in their local clubs”
Arlene Ainsley, Membership Manager at the TBSF added:
“We would like to thank the Young Leaders from Tanfield College for volunteering their time to help run the competition and we hope that they continue with their coaching”
