All schools working in partnership with the Tony Blair Sports Foundation have been invited to apply for FREE London 2012 tickets!

All schools working in partnership with the Tony Blair Sports Foundation have been invited to apply

In June, the Sports Foundation was awarded the 2012 Inspire mark for its ‘Coaches for Clubs’ campaign which will see more grassroots coaches recruited and trained to work in clubs and schools across the North East.  Hundreds of schools in the region are already involved in the Tony Blair Sports Foundation’s programmes and competitions and today the charity is encouraging these schools to join the Get Set network which is a special community of schools and colleges who are:

  • demonstrating a commitment to the Olympic Values (friendship, excellence and respect) and the Paralympic Values (inspiration, determination, courage and equality)
  • using the London 2012 Games to inspire learners of all ages to get involved in Values-based projects and activities

In recognition of their commitment to the Paralympics and Olympic Values London 2012 Ticketshare are offering schools and colleges in the Get Set network, tickets to the Paralympics and Olympic Games at no cost!  All schools have to do is tell London 2012 about their involvement in the Tony Blair Sports Foundation and how their school is living the Paralympics and Olympic Values.

Alan Beveridge, Teacher at Framwellgate School says:

“Our students are benefitting enormously from our partnership with the Tony Blair Sports Foundation.  We’ve just done some Tennis Competition Organisers courses which means our students can now set up their own sports events and recently helped out at the TBSF Tennis Challenge Cup which gave them great experience.   Joining the Get Set network will give us a whole range of online, interactive learning resources which in the run up to London 2012 will get our young people thinking about the true values of the Games.  And if we manage to get some free tickets for an event, we’ll be absolutely over the moon!”

If this news about London 2012 Ticketshare isn't enough of an incentive, there are lots of other benefits of joining the network too.

Members of the Get Set network receive:

  • A plaque and certificate from Lord Coe
  • The London 2012 education logo for use on your school sign, letterhead and website
  • Access to exclusive opportunities such as tours of the Olympic Park and visits from athletes and mascots
