Councillor Races Past Great North Run Fundraising Target

Congratulations go to London Councillor Matt Cooke who has smashed through his £1000 fundraising target weeks ahead of the Great North Run.

Matt will tackle one of the most famous half-marathons in the world on behalf of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation.

He said: "I have had some very generous donations so far which will help the Foundation to literally change people's lives."

Matt completed the New York Marathon last year and is now looking forward to tackling the 13.1 miles from Gateshead to South Shields.

"The Great North Run is a tough course but the charity I am running for is a truly fantastic and inspiring cause. Although I've gone beyond my fundraising target I'm going to keep going right up to the starting gun!"
