TBSF runners complete the Great North Run
Monday, Sep 20, 2010 in Sports Foundation
60 people ran this years Great North Run raising both money and awareness on behalf of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation. Braving the 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields and not put off by the rain, all of our runners completed the course.
Our first runner past the finishing line was Michael Wilmot who was running the half marathon for the first time. Michael finished in just 1 hour 46 minutes which was a great achievement.

Michael's partner Catherine also did the run for the first time and both were winners in our fundraising competition to get a special VIP race pass.Catherine tells us:
"I just wanted to say again what a great day I had yesterday and thank you so much for the VIP pass – what an amazing experience all round! It was lovely to meet you and Arlene and to hear more about the work you do, and also have our photo taken with Brendan Foster! Not too stiff this morning thankfully - I’d certainly be up for running again next year!"
You can hear what Michael had to say here.
We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone for taking part on our behalf. All the money raised will be used to recruit and train more sports coaches and officials across the North East.
