Team TBSF does the Great North Run
Monday, Sep 19, 2011 in Sports FoundationFor the fourth year, Team TBSF took to the streets to raise funds on behalf of the Foundation – impressively all of our team successfully completed the 13.1 mile journey in less than 3 hours! A full breakdown of the times can be found here.
Even though the weather was typically British a great day was had by all and our lucky VIP’s were even treated to a massage upon their return to South Shields.
This year’s run was made even more exciting when we witnessed a new course record set by Martin Mathathi - an inspiring 58 minutes, 56 seconds.
Graham Smith, Team TBSF said:
"From arriving in Newcastle yesterday morning the whole day couldn't have been any more perfect. Standing on the start line with the VIPs and celebs was so surreal and it just added to the already electric atmosphere. The run itself was amazing however I did find between 10 and 12 miles a struggle but the fantastic crowds carry you through and keep you going. The last mile is the best mile you will ever run in your life and seeing the finish line is fantastic. The reception, food, drink and massage in the hospitality tents provided through the TBSF was out of this world and believe me when I say "I can never ever thank you enough"
After keeping to a very strict training regime Graham deservedly tucked into a huge piece of cheesecake to celebrate his efforts and vowed that he would do the run again next year. To see how Graham prepared for the run, you can view his training log here.
