Be an Official
All organised sports need people to oversee them as officials whether they’re referees, umpires or assistants. Without them we wouldn’t have sport!
By signing up to become an official, you’ll get trained in the rules of the sport you’re involved with and have The Tony Blair Sports Foundation behind you every step. Sport needs players, players need coaches, but games need referees - and umpires – and touch judges – and match officials.
A whole variety of people become sporting officals and for a number of reasons. Many people who used to play sport but no longer actively play choose to put something back by becoming a referee or an umpire.
Many parents take up the role of official so that the kids playing any game are on a level playing field and get to learn the rules.
