The Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cycling (L1CCC) is the new entry-level award into the British Cycling Coach Education Programme, aimed at people new to coaching and cycling. This new qualification provides you with an introduction to the principles of safe, ethical and effective management and coaching of cycling sessions. The certificate qualifies you to independently prepare for, deliver and review pre-prepared coaching sessions to groups of adults or children. The course covers all of the basics of cycle coaching and qualifies coaches to deliver British Cycling Go-Ride Gears 1 and 2 activities.

Upon successful completion of the course and as a British Cycling member and licensed coach, you will have access to an impressive list of benefits. These include:

  • £5 million professional indemnity insurance
  • Access to free coaching and technical support.
  • Go-Ride Gears 1 and 2 Coaching Workbooks with over 20 different activities
  • Use of pre-prepared session plans

Level 1 coaches can use a variety of environments to deliver cycling activities such as; playing fields, tennis courts and car parks or even large indoor gymnasiums.

The Tony Blair Sports Foundation can help local clubs achieve the Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation, by helping volunteers to gain the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Cycling.

In partnership with British Cycling, we have developed a recruitment programme to compliment Go-Ride and develop coaches and officials to support events. We really want you to get on your bike!
