Our Competitions

Tennis Challenge 2011

Thousands of children across the North East have already taken part in the Tony Blair Sports Foundation Tennis Challenge Cup and the Get Going Get Rowing junior indoor rowing competitions.  Working with our partner organisations we can train teachers and young sports leaders to help us organise and run school and club competitions making sure that we can reach out and support every child that wants to take part.

For our local education establishments we will provide access to training, access to well organised local competition, access to volunteer coaches and officials and through our partnership work plan the creation of sporting inclusion for all.

Our young people will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and education portfolio through the provision of a range of training courses designed specifically for organising and running events. This will then lead to a natural progression to further subsidised coaching and officiating qualifications in one of our eight sports of athletics, basketball, canoeing, cricket, cycling, football, rowing and tennis.

“If we can encourage children to take up sport at an early age then there is every possibility we can nurture young talent and start producing some genuine stars of tomorrow.” Greg Rusedski TBSF Ambassador
