What is Pass It On?
November 2012 marked five years of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation. Since our launch in 2007 we have worked to get more young people in the North East active by recruiting and training almost 2,500 volunteer coaches, officials and young leaders across our region.
We have already given thousands of young people from as far north as Berwick upon Tweed right down to the south of Teesside the chance to take up sport, thanks to our dedicated members who coach in clubs and schools within their local communities.
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have inspired a generation of young people and we have a unique opportunity to capture their enthusiasm and make sure they have the opportunity to get involved in sport.
But we know that if more young people want to play sport, we need even more qualified coaches to support them. That’s why we need to continue our work to inspire more people to get into coaching and make sure that the North East’s participation legacy lives on.
So how do we do this?
All of our members have their own reasons for getting involved in coaching. Through our Pass It On campaign we hope to tell you their stories – explain what it is that makes them want to coach and hope that we can inspire you to get involved.
Some of our members have already started telling us their Pass It On stories, and you can click on the links below to read them and get inspired by their great work!

As you can see from these Pass It On stories, anyone with a love of sport and a willingness to see others succeed can get involved in coaching, and at the Foundation we will help you every step of the way. Because that’s what a participation legacy should be: supporting more people, to take part, more often.
So it’s over to you. Contact us today and let us help you begin your own story! Or why not download one of our Pass It On posters to put up in your club or workplace to spread the word about the Foundation?
